ST. PAUL—Nels Pierson (R-Rochester) was officially sworn in as a state representative on Tuesday, January 6, in St. Paul after taking the oath of office administered by Chief Justice Lori Gildea. This is his first term in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
“It’s an honor and privilege to be representing the people of District 26B, and I look forward to jumping right into session, passing legislation that benefits the hardworking people of Southeastern Minnesota,” said Rep. Pierson. “I am here to serve my constituents and welcome your input on how we can improve state government. I believe that together, the legislature can pass commonsense polices that make Minnesota a national leader in education, health care and job creation.”
Pierson will serve on the following House committees: Agriculture Finance, Education Innovation Policy, Health and Human Services Finance, and Health and Human Services Reform.
A real estate developer, Pierson is replacing retired state representative Mike Benson.
