Thursday, October 15, 2020

ST. PAUL – By a 100-34 vote, the Minnesota House approved an omnibus bill Wednesday including legislation to rectify a tax issue that has placed a major burden on many farmers and business owners, along with a $1.37 billion bonding package. Rep. Nels Pierson, R-Rochester, is a member of the House Capital Investment Committee and a issued the following statement:

"The bill is the culmination of almost 300 hours of my work in committee and it was an honor to be one of the first people thanked by name by Chair Mary Murphy for asking the tough questions during our tours and in committee meetings," Pierson said. "While I'd prefer to see the bill fully funded, the projects in our area were included, by and large, and tax conformity for Section 179 tax code will prevent many farmers and business owners in our area from going under."

The Senate approved the bill 64-3 Thursday afternoon, sending it to the governor for enactment.
