ROCHESTER, MN—Rep. Nels Pierson, R-Rochester, issued the following statement congratulating area 2017 Farm Families of the Year. The Farm Family Recognition Program is coordinated by the University of Minnesota Extension; the College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Sciences; and the College of Veterinary Medicine and recognizes families from Minnesota's 87 counties who have made significant contributions to Minnesota agriculture and their communities. The 2017 Farm Family Recognition Program takes place today at Farmfest.
The 2017 award winners from Olmsted County are Jim and Connie Stannard of Big Shaggy Buffalo Farm.
"Congratulations to Jim and Connie on being named this year’s Olmsted County Farm Family of the Year,” said Rep. Pierson. “Growing up on a family farm, I have the utmost respect for our agriculture workers and all they do for our area and our state. Jim and Connie are certainly deserving of this award.”
Pierson is preparing a House resolution for the family to recognize their award.
