House passes changes to state job training program requirements
By Melissa Turtinen
Proposed changes to the state’s job training program requirements are headed to Gov. Mark Dayton.
The House passed HF2937/SF2629*, sponsored by Rep. Anne Neu (R-North Branch) and Sen. Rich Draheim (R-Madison Lake), on a 126-0 vote Monday. The Senate passed it 66-0 on April 25.
Neu said the purpose of the bill is to “update and simplify” state law.
The bill would:
remove the requirement that education and training courses last an average of six months;
clarify program participants must be 18 or older on the enrollment date;
modify financial qualifications for the program; and
replace existing program reporting requirements with those in the uniform outcome report card.
