It took a special session, but the state government is funded for the 2018-19 biennium. The fiscal year begins July 1, so most provisions in the funding bills signed by Gov. Mark Dayton take effect Saturday.
Also on tap July 1: Sunday sales. The law that sheds Minnesota's long-running prohibition on Sunday off-sale liquor sales goes into effect Saturday, allowing liquor stores across the state to keep their doors open through the weekend (should they choose).
