Rep. Anderson: Time for ballots to be cast in new mail-only voting precincts

Thursday, October 22, 2020

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Paul Anderson, R-Starbuck, encourages area voters who reside in new mail-only voting precincts to make sure they complete and return their ballot or vote in person at their local county election office.

For Anderson’s District 12B, the impacted townships include Hudson and La Grand in Douglas County; Chippewa Falls, Gilchrist and Lake Johanna in Pope, and Farming, Raymond, Sauk Centre and St. Martin in Stearns, along with the Stearns cities of Belgrade, Brooten, St. Martin and St. Rosa.

“Most people have their voting routine down pat and I just want to make sure people are aware the process is different in some of our district’s townships and cities,” Anderson said. “Whether you are a Republican, Democrat or Independent, make sure you are aware of any changes that may apply to you so that your vote is counted this year.”

In addition, Anderson said the Stearns County Auditor has stated that voters from mail-in precincts who wish to vote in person and new county voters who need to register, may do so at the Stearns County Courthouse, or the the West Service Center in Waite Park.

However, starting Oct. 27, there will be a third location to register and/or to vote in person if you are from a mail-in precinct in Stearns. That third location will be at the City Hall in Melrose at 225 1st St. NE. Hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Stearns County website is being updated with this information and you also can call the Stearns County Auditor's office at (320) 656-3920 or email elections@co.stearns.mn.us for more.
