Thursday, May 10, 2018

ST. PAUL – Rep. Paul Anderson, R-Starbuck, recognizes the Albany Area Schools agriculture department, taught by Duane Lichy, for receiving a $6,687 grant to conduct a project.

The funding from the Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council will allow the department to purchase equipment and resources to instruct students in agricultural mechanics courses through a project entitled “Integrating Current Technologies into Agricultural Mechanics.”

“It is good to see local schools take on new agriculture programs and the MAELC does a nice job of playing a supporting role in these endeavors,” Anderson said. “I commend Mr. Lichy and others involved with this program for taking the initiative to grow agriculture education in new ways, taking advantage of technological advancements that will benefit the industry.”

Since its creation in 1997, the MAELC indicates it has awarded over $12.4 million in competitive grants, scholarships, sponsored projects and awards.
