ST. PAUL – State Rep. Paul Anderson, R-Starbuck, on Wednesday received the Bell Ringer Award from the Minnesota Association of Agricultural Educators for his efforts to pass legislation in support of ag education.

As chairman of the House Agriculture Policy Committee, Anderson has successfully advocated for or personally authored into law numerous provisions on this subject. This includes extending summer contracts for Future Farmers of America/ag instructors, creating a dairy research facility at the University of Minnesota and increasing funding for colleges to expand the Farm Business Management program to help hire new farm business instructors in our state.

“The ag. industry has become such complex business that it is crucial we have educational opportunities in place to help people succeed,” Anderson said. “Today’s farms have evolved so much from previous generations and it is important that our training methods keep pace at the high school and college levels alike so that our state can continue to be a national leader in this industry.”

Anderson received the Bell Ringer Award during the MAAE’s annual summer conference, which took place Willmar.
