Starting Line: Lawmaker offers proposal to strengthen civics knowledge

Rep. Dean Urdahl (R-Grove City) says he believes civics is an important part of high school curriculum because it helps students learn about the system and principles on which our country was built.
The author and retired history teacher also says he fears some students are falling behind in this area of study — and that something needs to be done about it.
This week on Starting Line, find out more about Urdahl’s proposal that aims to strengthen student’s civics knowledge by requiring school districts to offer a government and citizenship course for credit in either 11th or 12th grade.
