House passes eye drop prescription refill mandate for health plans

The House passed a bill Wednesday that would require health plans that cover prescription eye drops to also cover refills for those eye drops.

Sponsored by Rep. Tony Albright (R-Prior Lake) and Sen. Karin Housley (R-St. Marys Point), HF1203/SF997* was passed 112-18 by the House. Passed 65-0 by the Senate April 27, it now heads to Gov. Mark Dayton.

“This allows for you to go back and have your pharmacist refill your prescription without having to go back to your doctor,” Albright said.
