EDUCATION FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Cheryl Youakim, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:34 AM on February 2, 2023, in Room 120 of the Capitol Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistance noted the roll.

Representative Hill moved that the February 1, 2023, minutes, with corrections, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 456 (Perez-Vega) Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Expansion of voluntary prekindergarten and school readiness plus program made permanent, and money appropriated.

Representative Perez-Vega moved HF 456 before the committee to be re-referred to the Ways and Means Committee.
Representative Perez-Vega moved the A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDEMENT IS ADOPTED.
Representative Perez-Vega presented HF 456 as amended.

Representative Perez- Vega renewed the motion that HF 456 as amended moved to the Ways and Means Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
HF 193 (Hout) Emergency medical service course grant funding provided, and money appropriated.
Representative Pryor moved HF 193 before the committee.
Representative Hout presented HF 193.

Chair Youakim moved the HF 193 be laid over for consideration in the Education Finance omnibus bill.
HF 535 (Frazier) School board authorized to renew expiring referendum.
Representative Clardy moved HF 535 before the committee to be referred to the Elections Finance and Policy Committee.
Representative Frazier presented HF 198.

Representative Clardy renewed the motion that HF 198 be referred to the Elections Finance and Policy Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
